Holiday Honeys: St Patrick's Day

Lucille Ball

Adele Mara (Image © Bettmann/CORBIS)

The original caption for this photo was:

"April 1946 --- Actress Adele Mara is dressed for St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps the four leaf clovers will bring her luck. --- "

This does nothing to explain the fact that she appears to be about to heave a brick at someone, which is not a tradition that is generally associated with St Patrick's Day, as far as I know. Another slight incongruity is that St Patrick's Day was March 17th, 1946, so she's doing her clover-decorated brick chunking in the wrong month.
